Have you noticed people are bolder than ever before in this election? I have even been asked who I’m voting for- Obama or McCain. I grew up in the south and I was always taught you never asked someone who they were voting for, because it was rude. I really started thinking about the question and decided my response should be “I’m voting for Jesus!”
As a Christian, Tuesday really shouldn’t be different from any other day of my life. I should spend time with Jesus in prayer, surrendering my day to Him and asking Him to send His Spirit to guide me through the Word and provide direction and insight for my day. The choices I make throughout my day should line up with the Word of God.
As believers we are called to be Jesus’ witnesses everywhere we go (Acts 1:8). How do we witness? We witness by living a holy life that reflects Jesus. John 1:1-2 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” If we reflect Jesus, we are reflecting the Word.
When we have a relationship with Jesus, we make our decisions in life based on what would honor Him and His Word. When Tuesday comes, you don’t need to concern yourself with Democrat or Republican. Take time to be with Jesus. Read His Word and talk with Him and then vote for the man or woman running for office who lines up with Jesus and His Word.
Joshua said it best in Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” So, who am I voting for on Tuesday? That’s easy…I’m voting for Jesus.
