Last night, I attended a girls’ night out at my church. The title of it was “Girl Time” and when the doors opened you had the opportunity to go around and meet women from our church at different tables and learn about their businesses. It was a great chance to see all of the wonderful and diverse things the women of our church are involved in daily. One of the greatest blessings was the diversity of age represented at the tables.
One of the tables was set up by a freshman college student in our church, Kelsey Chapman. Kelsey went to Ghana, West Africa on a mission trip and was touched by the children at the Adullam Orphanage (I wrote about an experience I had while serving at Adullam yesterday). She wanted to do something to make a difference. What could she do? She’s just a college student, right?
Well, that didn’t stop Kelsey. She came home and put her energy behind her passion and now she is having an impact on children in Africa. Through the help of TOMS shoes and women like you, Kelsey is helping put shoes on the feet of the children at the Adullam Orphanage. The program is called “One for One” and for every pair of TOMS shoes sold through Kelsey’s email, the company will donate a pair of shoes to the Adullam Orphanage. Now that is truly living out the call to “take care of the least of these” [Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’].
So, don’t ever think you can’t make a difference. You may not be providing shoes for children in an orphanage, but you could cook a meal and take it to a neighbor in need or visit an elderly person in your church. There are so many wonderful things you can do to live out this verse. Take some time today to ask the Father what your mission for the day is and He will direct you. It doesn’t take an army…it just takes one willing person. After all, one with God is a majority.

If you’d like to help Kelsey put shoes on the feet of the children at Adullam Orpahange, go to http://www.tomsshoes.com/ and select the shoes you like, BUT DO NOT ORDER THERE. Email Kelsey the shoe and the size you need: Chapmaljkh@bellsouth.net. This way, she will get credit for selling the shoes and then TOMS shoes will send a pair to Ghana. Thank you, in advance, for supporting her passion and the children at the Adullam Orphanage.
