If you were brought up on charges for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Strange question, I know, but it causes you to search your heart. I remember being in youth group, back in the day, and putting on a skit about this very concept. It made all of us reflect upon our lives and see if we were leaving evidence of our faith wherever we went.
In Romans 14:12, it tells us we each will give an account of ourselves to God. That’s a nice way of saying Judgment Day will come. What about here and now? Are there people in your life who could serve as witnesses to the fact that you live your life so obviously for Jesus there would be no denying it?
John 15:8 says, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” It is God’s desire that we leave evidence. We aren’t to do this to draw attention to ourselves, but to draw attention to Him. Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Take some time this week to be alone with the Father and ask Him to reveal to you the evidence you’ve left behind and to help you leave more evidence in the days ahead. 2 Chronicles 16:9a says, “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. If your heart’s desire it to love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength [Mark 12:30], He will help you and there will be so much evidence about you there can only be a verdict of “Guilty!”
How I pray that there would be enough evidence to convict me of being a Christian!!! My desire is to be a living sacrifice for Christ!!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!
