I woke up this morning with the words from Psalm 62:5-8 on my mind. It says, “Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Selah”
How many of us truly find rest in God? How many of us take time each day just to rest in His presence and allow Him to download into our spirits all we need from Him for the day?
Matthew 6:11 says, “Give us this day our daily bread.” This is part of the Lord’s Prayer. The Lord was teaching His disciples how to pray. How can we ask God to give us our daily bread, if we don’t set aside time each day for Him to do it? How can we find rest in God alone if we never have time alone with Him?
I cannot impress upon you enough how important daily time with the Lord is for your spiritual health. You need it and the Lord desires it. The Lord calls us to it and is worthy of it.
I saw a cartoon in the paper yesterday that said, “Why do we only give God 10% and the waitress gets 15%?” That preaches by itself, but I took it one step further… Why do we watch a television program for an hour (or two) and won’t give God time each day? Why do we work out for an hour (or more) and won’t give God time each day? Does God get your best or your leftovers?
It is time to find rest in the Lord and seek your daily bread, your sustenance for life, from Him. I promise He will give you your fill and you’ll still have time to do all the things that are “important” in your day. If you will invest extravagantly in Him, the return you receive will be overflowing.
Amen, sister!! I cannot do without my time with Him each day!! I MUST have it to live AND to stay out of the pit. Have a great week.
