Do you have a big “BUT” in your life? I would love to go on a mission trip, BUT, I don’t speak the language. I would love to help do more for my community, BUT I don’t know where to start. I would be willing to serve in my church, BUT I don’t have any real talents. I would be willing to do ______, BUT I don’t want to be the only one.
Smith Wigglesworth once said, “If there are any “buts” in your attitude towards the Word of truth, then there is something unyielded to the Spirit.” I would take it one step futher and say if there is a “but” in any area of your relationship with the Lord or service for Him, then something is unyielded to the Spirit.
Philippians 1:6 says, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:13 says, “for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” And Philippians 4:19, says, And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
With God’s promise throughout the Word to work through us, we have nothing to lose. We are to yield to Him and trust He will bring to pass all he calls us to do. So is there something in your life you feel a holy nudge to do, but the devil of doubt has told you to hold on? How should you handle it?
Henry Blackaby once said you’re truly living by faith and as Christ would have you live if your answer to him is “yes” even before he asks you to do something.
God has specific plans in mind for you [Jeremiah 29:11]. He has chosen you. He is waiting for you to choose Him back…completely. He is jealous and He doesn’t like to share and He doesn’t like “buts.” There are no guarantees. You may say “yes” and it not work out as you think it should. God’s ways are not like our ways and we simply need to believe He has a plan and purpose in what He is working out in us and through us [Isaiah 55:8].
God wants to be more than just your Savior. He wants to be more than just your Lord. He desires to be your everything. When He is your everything and your response to Him is “yes, Lord!” to whatever He asks of you, then and only then are you completely His. Then there will be less of you and more of Him and the world will change before your very eyes.
