I recently watched a video clip on Youtube of some buffalo who are going to the watering hole in Africa. There is a small group of lions close by and they choose the smaller, weaker buffalo in the pack, the baby, and attack it. It appears to be the end for the buffalo as they drag it into the water. If that wasn’t bad enough, a crocodile then comes after the buffalo from the other side. They play a game of tug of war with this poor buffalo. The lions win and drag the buffalo out of the jaws of the crocodile onto dry land. It would appear the buffalo has no hope of survival. Then you see it…the entire herd of buffalo coming together in a full court press on the lions to rescue one of their own. It was really quite amazing to watch.
Have you ever felt singled out or isolated? Was it due to circumstance or some choices you made? Have you ever felt like things were coming at you from all sides? 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that our enemy prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour. He is looking for someone isolated, alone or weak. God designed the body of Christ to come along beside us, strengthen us, protect us, and help defend us. He never intended us to live life alone. He created us to have relationship-both with Him and others.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:” 1 Corinthians 12:27 tells us, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” We all serve our purpose. There is no one who is insignificant or one who is more significant. It takes all of us working together to accomplish the plans the Lord has set before us.
Be encouraged. You do not have to live this life alone. You are part of something much bigger than yourself. You are a member of the body of Christ.
