If you grew up in the south, you’ve heard the expression “count your blessings.” But how many of us actually do it? Do you ever take the time to sit down and focus on all the ways the Lord has blessed you?
There is great motivation gained by focusing on the positives- the faithfulness of God. Isaiah 25:1 says, “O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.” Psalm 40:5 says, “Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. “
When we take time to reflect on all God has done for us, through us and around us, we begin to see His involvement in every aspect of our lives. We begin to recognize He is faithful to us. We come to embrace Psalm 36:5, which reminds us the Lord’s faithfulness is vast and mighty. We begin to face the challenges of life with passion, trusting in the Lord’s faithfulness.
I encourage you to take a few minutes each day to record just 5 things the Lord has blessed you with and add to the list every day for a week. You’ll find after the first day or two, you want to continue writing. By the end of the week, you’ll see 35 ways the Lord has blessed you. You will also see your attitude has become more positive and you are looking at life differently. It is never too late to count your blessings.
