We arrived at the Lighthouse Retreat Sunday and the excitement was stirring. The families arrive today at lunchtime and I cannot wait. One of the things we did to wrap up our time together Sunday night was to remember the purpose of a lighthouse. A lighthouse first and foremost gives off light . Secondly, it is a point of reference and gives direction for those who seek it. And finally, a lighthouse is a reminder you are not alone.
God’s Word is like a lighthouse if you think about it. It provides light and calls us to be light in the world [Matthew 5:14; Psalm 119:105]. God’s Word is like a lighthouse in that it is a point of reference for us and offers us direction when we seek it [Proverbs 3:5-6]. And finally, the Word reminds us we are not alone. Romans 8:35-39 says, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Take advantage of the Lighthouse the Lord left us in His Word. Use it each day to guide and direct all you do and say. Be blessed. More from the Lighthouse Retreat later…
Blessing you as you bless others!
