I have two brothers. One is about 2 ½ years older than me and the other is about 2 ½ years younger. I am also the only girl and was a daddy’s girl. Whenever things didn’t go the way I wanted or if they were mean to me, my response was “I’m going to tell Daddy.”
When you have something happen in your life or a problem, what is your first response? Do you pause in prayer or do you grab the phone and call one of your friends? So many times, we view prayer as a last resort. In some cases, we may pray out of habit or because we feel we’re supposed to, but we don’t really expect it to bring an impact. Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” 1 Peter 5:7 says “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
Our Daddy is the King of all of creation. He doesn’t have to play by the rules of nature like we do. He has everything in this world at His disposal. Why would we consider Him our last resort? Why would we not begin with Him? After all, HE is the only one who can always do something about our situation. Will we always get our way? No, but neither did I as a child when I ran to my daddy. My daddy would do what he felt was best for the given situation. The Lord loves us and will make decisions based on what is best for us [Matthew 7:11; Luke 11:13].
The next time crisis shows up at your door, run to the throne instead of the phone.
