Proverbs 11:2 says “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” I typically don’t write about what takes place in the news or on television, but I have to say America saw true humility last night on American Idol when Kris Allen won the title. No one was more shocked than Kris. Throughout the entire competition, he remained humble and just thankful to be there. While Simon Cowell was put off by his attitude, I found it refreshing.
Upon doing a little digging I learned Allen is the worship pastor for the Chi Alpha campus ministry at University of Central Arkansas and at New Life Church in Conway and Little Rock, Ark. He is quoted as being grounded and one of the most humble people you know. One pastor went on to say when Kris leads worship it is all for the glory of God.
James 4:10 says “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” Kris Allen lived out this verse before all of America this season on American Idol. Who would have ever thought network television would provide a picture of scripture lived out before us all.
So my question for you today is: What would people say about you? Are you living as a humble servant of the Most High?
1 Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”
