Have you ever noticed how magazines and commercials tell you everything wrong with you? They are constantly pointing out how to change your weight, your attitude, your hair color, your teeth…you name it and they see a flaw in it and are promising they have the solution. The more you read it and hear it, the more you believe it.
As Christians we don’t have to listen to the lies of the enemy that come neatly packaged in magazines or television commercials. Philippians 4:8 says “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable– if anything is excellent or praiseworthy– think about such things.” God tells you in Psalm 139:14 you are fearfully and wonderfully made. He goes on to say His works are wonderful. The verse before (13) tells how He knit you together in your mother’s womb. If God made us and His works are wonderful, then why are we buying the negative thoughts the enemy is trying to ram down our throats?
Not only do we tend to buy the pack of lies, but we help him in heaping them on ourselves and others. Ephesians 4:29 says “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
The spoken word holds power. When you speak things about yourself or others, you either agree with the enemy which secures his hold on you or you agree with God and stand on His truth. You have got to be careful what you say, even to the person in the mirror.
According to Luke 9:1, Jesus gave us authority to send the devil packing. James 4:7 says if we will resist the devil, he will flee. John 17:9 tells us we belong to God. If we belong to Him, we need to start buying HIS press about us instead of the enemy’s press. It’s time to send the enemy packing by the power and authority of Jesus Christ. It’s time for him to go! You’ve got better things to do with your time than waste it focusing on him.
