Where are you going? Do you have a goal in mind? Whether its finances, relationships, education, career, or your time with the Lord, you need to have a goal in mind and then take steps to help you obtain the goal. There’s an old phrase that says “If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.”
In the corporate world, there are business plans. In the world of finance, there are financial plans, retirement plans and so forth. Why do we fail to have a plan in our relationships? We tend to just wing it and sometimes we get lucky and sometimes things fall apart.
When you have a goal in mind, you take steps to assure the goal is obtained. You put action behind your desire to make it a reality. It is why banks want to see business plans when a company comes in for a loan. They want to know there has been time and energy put into forming a plan to assure success so they aren’t taking a huge risk with their money.
Do you have a plan where the Lord is concerned? Do you have a desired goal you wish to meet? I do. When I meet the Lord face to face after running this race called life, I want to hear Him say “Well done, good and faithful servant” [Matthew 25:21]. I want to please my Lord. My life goal is to bring honor and glory to the name of Jesus and to point others to Him.
The Bible is a wealth of information for those who take the time to read it. It speaks to any issue concerning you, either directly or indirectly, including how to serve the Lord faithfully.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” In a nut shell, those verses are my action plan for my relationship with Jesus. Trust Him, lean on Him, acknowledge Him. It is simply stated but if I do those three things, then He promises to make my paths straight and the straight path leads to Him.
What is your goal in your relationship with Jesus? Do you have a plan to get you there? If not, why not take some time with Him today to determine a plan for you. He is waiting for you to ask.
