Have you ever been in love? You remember the excited feeling you’d get every time you thought of your special someone. You couldn’t wait to see him or talk to him on the phone. You could sit for hours listening to what he had to say. You’d find yourself just staring at him sometimes for no apparent reason other than you loved him. When he wrote you love notes and letters you would read them over and over again because you wanted to soak it all in and make sure you didn’t miss something along the way. Love is exciting and energizing and plain fun. It is so wonderful you’ve got to talk about it.
How would you describe your relationship with Jesus? Would you use any of the adjectives above? So many of us say we love Jesus but our actions do not line up with our words. Are we eager to spend time with him? Mark 1:35 says “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Not only did Jesus meet with the Father in prayer daily to talk with Him, He did it first thing. It was His priority. He was eager to spend time with the Father.
Do you ever listen to the Lord when you meet with Him or do you simply read off your laundry list of wishes and desires and then go on about your day? Mary and Martha had the pleasure of having Jesus visit their home. While Martha was being a good hostess, Mary didn’t budge. She didn’t dare want to miss a word Jesus spoke. She sat at His feet “listening to what He said” [Luke 10:39]. When was the last time you listened for the still small voice of God and soaked up all He had to say to you [1 Kings 19:12]?
Did you know the Lord wrote you love notes? His Word is life and it is full of how He feels about you, what He desires for you and what He will do for you. The best way to come to know the Lord is to gaze upon who He is through the Word of God. The Word was written for us for a purpose [2 Timothy 3:16].
I just returned from a week long youth camp where I encountered the living God up close and personal. It was like an uninterrupted week long date with Jesus where the outside world was kept away. It was an amazing time full of laughter, joy, excitement, energy, passion and fun. If anyone says Christianity is boring, then they haven’t met my Jesus. I am in love with a man and His name is Jesus. Life with Him is too good to keep to myself.
What about you? Are you in love with Jesus? Does it show? Would anybody know? He loves you desperately and wants to tell you. Will you meet with Him today?
Hmmm, I love the same man you love!! That is the neat thing about Jesus–we can all be in love with Him and He has enough love to give each one of us and never run out!!
Hallelujah!!
