Is there something separating you from an intimate relationship with Jesus? Do you have a relationship with Him but feel like something is keeping you from going as deep as possible? If so, how did it get there?
When Christ died upon the cross, the veil separating mankind from the holy of holies was torn in two [Matthew 27:51], giving us complete and total access to the Father. Romans 8:39 says “neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” That is to say, nothing will come between us and God except what WE put in between us.
John 10:10 says the enemy’s desire is to kill us, steal us and destroy us. If he cannot keep us from a salvation relationship with Jesus, then he will do all he can to destroy us and prevent us from having the abundant life Jesus came to give us. In many cases, he does this by creating a barrier between us and all the Lord has for us. In his own strength, he can’t put anything between us, but he can suggest it to us until we knowingly or unknowingly partner with him [Genesis 3:1-6].
Maybe you are holding onto pain or bitterness from your past. Or could you be harboring an unforgiving heart? Maybe you feel like you’ve been left out or abandoned by someone you love or care about. None of these things will help you and any of them can harm you. Jesus is calling out to you. He desires the most intimate fellowship with you, but you must take a step. In Revelation 3:20 Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me.” You have to open the door. You have to take action. The barrier is as thin as a piece of paper and all you have to do is reach up and tear it. Jesus is standing there waiting for you. He is calling out to you. Your true destiny is on the other side. What are you waiting for?
