I was on Facebook the other day and came across something one of my daughter’s friends posted. It read :”Days of the week without God: Sinday, Mournday, Tearsday, Wasteday, Thirstday, Frightday and Shatterday.” I don’t know if she had seen this somewhere else or come up with it on her own, but I thought it was very profound.
When you think about the problems we face in life, they are usually a result of (1) the choices we make without consulting God [Sinday, Wasteday], (2) not spending time with God [Thirstday, Shatterday] or (3) not taking Him at His Word [Mournday, Tearsday, Frightday].
When we go to God in prayer and ask for His input in our decisions [Proverbs 3:5-6], then we avoid sin and do not waste our time. When we spend time with the Lord, He gives us all we need. He tells us those who drink from the water He gives will thirst no more [John 4:14, Revelation 7:16]. Our time with Him is a time to drink deep from the wellspring of life. When we take Him at His Word, we do not have to mourn like the world, because we have assurance we will see our loved ones again and be united with Jesus for all eternity [John 14:3, John 16:20-22]. We know our tears may last for a night, but the Lord says He will bring joy in the morning [Psalm 30:5]. And we are told God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind [2 Timothy 1:7]. In fact, the Word of God tells us 365 times to fear not. He wastes nothing, so if He repeated this 365 times, He really wanted this message to be etched into our hearts and minds.
Seven days without the Lord makes one weak. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” When our heart’s desire is the same as the Lord’s desire, He is our strength. It is time to strengthen your spiritual muscles and the way to begin is on your knees. He’s calling us all to become lean, mean, fighting machines in the war we’re in. Let’s get in shape.
HOw neat!! I have not seen those before.
I just cannot function with Him. Don’t know why I even think I could.
