Do you have friends who make you laugh? I don’t mean a little giggle here or there…I mean doubled over, pee in your pants laughter. Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4 says “There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. A time to cry and a time to laugh.” I thank God He gave us laughter.
Humor is to life what shock absorbers are to bicycles or cars. It makes the ride a little smoother when you go over the bumps. I’ve heard it said laughter actually helps heal the body because it releases pent up stress. David Nathan said “Laughter is part of the human survival kit.”
I have been blessed with several friends who have the gift of giggle in their bag of spiritual gifts. I can count on nearly busting a gut when I am with them. Many times when my day is going astray, I’ll pick up the phone and call one of them, because I know before I hang up the phone, I’ll be laughing.
God tells us we are created in His image [Genesis 1:26] and I fully believe with every ounce of my being God is anything but boring. You know He has to have an amazing sense of humor. Just consider what it must have sounded like in heaven when God created the animals….the long neck of the giraffe….the pink butt of the baboon…the snout of the ant eater….the monkey. I am sure the angels were rolling on their wings in heaven.
Laughter and smiles are wonderful gifts the Lord has given us that bless the giver as much as the recipient. They have the ability to change one’s perspective on an entire day or situation.
You don’t have to be a stand up comedian to bring laughter bubbling out of another person. We all have some level of humor inside of us.
Won’t you use the gifts God has so freely given you to bless someone today? You’ll be blessed in return.
