Have you ever read The Message? I go to it from time to time because I like the language. It doesn’t mince words. It gets straight to the point. This morning, I was reading in Proverbs and came to 12:19 “Truth lasts; lies are here today, gone tomorrow.” There is no need to explain what the writer is trying to say in this verse.
The Word of God is truth. You can count on it to be around for all eternity. What you think or feel in the moment doesn’t change the validity of its accuracy. It stands on its own. I love what Pastor Charles Sineath says, “God said it; I believe it; that settles it!”
I was talking with a friend yesterday and she was recounting a story between a mother and daughter who were discussing same sex relationships. The daughter was telling her mom that it was accepted now, as if that made it okay. This young lady was assuming because something was accepted in society, it was truth.
God’s Word is very clear on the subject of same sex unions [1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13 and Romans 1:24-27, 32]. Just because something is the accepted practice of the day does not make it truth. In the 1950s homosexuality was not an accepted practice of society. It was revered as a sinful act. Truth never changes. It is, just like God is “I AM.”
If you are trying to figure out which side of an issue to stand on, I suggest seeking the truth in the Truth. You may feel like you are the only one taking that stand, but if you line your position up with the Word of God, you’ll never stand alone. One with God is a majority!
