Do you have a string of real pearls or do you know someone who does? They are quite stunning and timeless. I remember when I got my first real pearls. My grandmother felt every young lady should have a pearl necklace in her life, so she gave each of her granddaughters a pearl necklace for our 16th birthday. It was the first piece of real jewelry I ever received and it came in a beautiful gift box. I knew they were expensive, but they held more value to me because they came from my grandmother.
I remember learning why pearls are so expensive. Each individual pearl in a necklace comes from a single oyster, the lowliest of sea creatures. Pearls are made by the intrusion of a hard substance, like a grain of sand, inside the oyster. The oyster deals with the irritation over time and the result is something beautiful and valuable.
Are you experiencing an uncomfortable intrusion in your life right now? It could be something physical or emotional. Maybe you’re dealing with financial hardship in this economy. Charles Spurgeon once said “The greenest grass is found wherever the most rain falls.”
Jesus said “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.” [Luke 12:6] Whatever you are going through in this season of your life, the Lord will use it for His purposes. Romans 8:28 tells us “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” The Lord takes care of His own. Sometimes He allows intrusions into our lives because He knows a greater good will come as the result of experiencing them.
Do you trust Him? He is trustworthy, faithful and true [Isaiah 26:4]. You can rest in knowing if He allows an intrusion in your life, He will work it for good. Your end result will be something precious that could be attained no other way.
