Does the ticking of a clock annoy you or sooth you? A couple of months ago, I would have told you the ticking sound of a clock annoyed me to no end. Now that opinion has changed. A friend gave me a clock for my office for my birthday this year. She made sure the clock made a ticking sound as the hands turned around the clock. She said it was to serve as a reminder I am on God’s time, not my own.
God’s timing may not be our timing for things; however, He does have a time for all things. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” God is not random. He has a very specific plan for this earth and for each one of us [Jeremiah 29:11].
At the appointed time Sarah gave birth to Isaac, the feasts were celebrated, battles were won, Christ was born. At the appointed time His ministry was revealed, miracles were done, He was crucified on the cross of Calvary, and at the appointed time judgment will come to the earth and all who live and once lived upon it. He set time in place when He created the heavens and the earth [Genesis 1:1-5].
I’ve heard it said “God is never late, but seldom early.” Whatever you are waiting for, my friend, God knows. He knows the desires of your heart and He knows what His desires are for you. He knows that waiting serves a purpose. Sometimes He allows us to wait to get the circumstances ready for our answer. Sometimes He allows us to wait to get us ready. Either way, the Lord wastes nothing. If you are in a season of waiting, there is a purpose in it.
When I first received the clock in my office, I had to open it and adjust the timing to make it right. Now it runs in perfect time. Does the Lord need to do a work inside of you to align you with His timing? Take time to get into alignment with Him today, because His timing is perfect.
