Have the kids started back to school in your city? The yellow buses started rolling early yesterday morning, students began pouring into the halls, making their way through the crowds looking for their homeroom classes, and catching up with friends. It was in the midst of this energetic pandemonium my daughter’s panic began. Where was her homeroom class? Laura couldn’t find it. Just as she was beginning to feel like she might get sick from the panic, two upper classmen she knew approached her and she asked them to help her find her way to her homeroom. They were happy to help.
I think we all relate to Laura’s panic because we’ve all experienced it from time to time. Whether it is a school memory, relocating to a new city or starting a new job, we all find ourselves in situations where we aren’t sure of ourselves. We don’t quite know what we’re doing or how to do it.
It is during these times the Father tells us to lean on Him. He cares for us and He can and will help. Psalm 55:23 says “Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.” 1 Peter 5:7 says “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” You are precious to Him. You are His child and He will help you through whatever you are going though at the time. Panic is not from the Lord. He is steady and will help you remain steady when you cry out to Him. The situation may not change, but you will. He will cover you in His peace [Philippians 4:6-7].
After finding her way to her homeroom class, Laura felt more confident as she went to her other classes. She recognized if she lost her way, others would be there to help her and there was no reason to panic. God is always waiting and available to help us. All we have to do is ask.
