Have you ever picked up the paper and read the headlines and wondered where God was in everything? It seems like there is far more negative that positive. Well, first of all, the negative seems to sell the papers. What does that say about us as a people? Secondly, God has not moved. He is still very present and available to those who seek Him. When He looks out over the world today and sees what is going on, it breaks His heart.
The sad reality is we haven’t learned much in two thousand years.
In Matthew 23:37 Jesus looks out over the land and says “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.” What would He say about America today? Based on our current condition, I believe you could substitute America for Jerusalem and it would apply to us.
God is a gentleman. He is ever present and always willing to help us, but He will not force Himself upon us [Joshua 1:5]. We have to cry out to Him and yield our free will for Him to move [Numbers 20:16; 2 Samuel 22:7; Psalm 130; and Luke 7:13].
God has already chosen us [John 15:16]. He is simply waiting on us to choose Him. Will you choose Him today? Will you cry out to Him for yourself and for our land? He promises us if we do, He will respond. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 He tells us “if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Are you wondering any longer where God is in the world today? He is standing by waiting for people to turn to Him. Will you turn? Will you humble yourself today? Our country is depending on it.
