Have you ever witnessed an accident? I was walking through the Target parking lot and saw an accident right after it took place. The bizarre thing; however, was no people were in either car. Someone had gotten out of their car in a hurry and failed to put it out of gear. The car rolled across the parking lot and only came to a stop when it hit a black pickup truck. Quite a crowd had gathered around the car and truck. It’s not every day you see a car accident between two vehicles without either one of them having a driver.
I stood there thinking “How in the world can you be in such a hurry that you forget to put the car in gear?” We all get in a hurry sometimes and for many of us, the results of our rush leads to things far worse than a fender bender. We jump out of bed late and rush out the door without taking time with the Lord. We place a high priority on whatever we’re rushing to do and accidents usually follow. We haven’t gotten our heart in line with the Lord’s for the day so we say something we didn’t mean to say or we do something we didn’t mean to do leaving wreckage behind us [Proverbs 15:2; Romans 7:15]. When we take time with the Lord and get our heart aligned with His, He will order our steps and directs our path [Proverbs 3:5-6]. When we face situations we don’t know how to handle in our day, He is our ever present help in time of need [Jeremiah 33:3].
Take time to sit with the Lord today and soak in His Word. It will help you avoid some of the accidents of life.
