Have you ever noticed when putting a recipe together; the sum is greater than the parts? You wouldn’t necessarily want to chew on a stick of butter or down some egg whites; however, when those items are combined with some other things you wouldn’t mind eating, such as pecans, something delicious is created.
Life is the same way. We have some wonderful things happen in our lives we gladly receive and even celebrate. Other times, difficult or even painful things come our way we would prefer to avoid, but we can’t. If we only focus on the single situation we’re facing, it may seem like life is the pits. As we begin to understand the hard places we walk through are a part of the journey and add to the big picture, we can endure them. Romans 8:28 promises us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. He takes the good and the bad and puts them together to create something beautiful.
While we’re in the hard times of life, He reminds us we are not alone [Joshua 1:5; Psalm 23:4; Matthew 28:20]. If we will fix our eyes on Jesus, we will get through the storm [Hebrews 12:2]. After weathering a storm of life, we will be much more compassionate to those walking through similar circumstances and be able to minister to them out of a place of experience.
What are you facing today? Is it the egg whites of life or are you in the midst of some chocolate? Whether it is bad or good, God is in the middle of it with you and will use it to create something beautiful.
