Do you have a hard time sharing your faith with others? You know you’re supposed to do it, but you just don’t know how to get started [2 Timothy 1:8a]. You feel like, “Hey, my name is…do you know Jesus?” might be a bit strong.
God has a vested interest in us sharing the Gospel and He helps us more than we even know. He uses nature to give us our open door.
I spent the day in the mountains yesterday with my children. We went for higher ground and cooler temperatures and found neither, but we had a great time. We drove to Ellijay, Georgia to get pumpkins and apples and just knock around the town. As we got closer to the mountains, I couldn’t help but notice some of the leaves on the trees were already turning color and dropping to the ground. It was way too soon to see the burst of color fall usually displays, but it did get me thinking. Each fall the leaves die and fall to the ground. The tree looks dead throughout the winter season, but then when spring comes, new life bursts forth. The trees produce new leaves.
The story of new life is a reminder every season of 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” Just like the dead leaves that fall to the ground, when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we die to ourselves and experience new life as Christ lives in us. So, we can open the door to sharing the Gospel by talking about the seasons and how amazing it is God used nature to remind us of what He will do for us. Then our question of “Do you know Jesus?” doesn’t seem rushed or pushy.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal creative ways to share Jesus with others. Jesus sent Him and promised He will be with us and guide us [John 14:26]. Jesus has asked us to share His story with others [Matthew 28:18-20]. The seasons are changing and we’ve got work to do.
