Do you like fresh cut flowers? I love them and have often told my husband if I had the money, I’d have fresh cut flowers in every room in the house. They make a room cheerful and brighten your day.
When I came home from Africa, he had fresh cut flowers in vases all over the house. They were in the kitchen, on my dining room table, on my desk in my office and even in my bathroom. There was a rainbow of color all over my house. I have enjoyed these flowers every day. None of them seem to be losing their vibrancy.
Last night my husband came into my office, picked up the vase of flowers and filled the water level to the top. The water had not run dry. There was an inch or two still left, but he filled it up anyway. As he walked out, my wheels began to turn. The flowers remained vibrant because they were being watered regularly with fresh water.
We require the same attention. If we want to keep our walk with the Lord fresh and vibrant, we too need watering every day in the Word [John 7:37]. As we drink in the Word of God, we are refreshed and strengthened. Revelation 22:17 says “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”
We can remain vibrant and alive in the Lord, but we must not neglect the need to drink deep from the rivers of living water [Revelation 7:17]. Without a daily watering of the Word, we draw one step closer to drying up and withering away.
Are you thirsty? Have you had your drink today? Come and sit down for a while; drink deep and be restored. The supply is endless and the need is great.
