When was the last time you got a new Bible? Last night one of the ladies from the Atlanta Bible study presented me with a new Bible. It is the “God’s Word” translation. We like to read our text from a variety of translations and several weeks ago she read from the God’s Word translation. We all loved it and I commented that I had never seen that translation before, so she ordered one for me.
There’s something special about a new Bible. The crispness of the pages and the smell of new leather, it’s very inviting. I found myself excited to pull it out this morning and see what the Lord had for me.
What draws you to the Word of God? 2 Timothy 3:16 says “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” however, I think we could add to the list. It brings a peace that surpasses all understanding to the soul [Philippians 4:7]. It gives direction [Psalm 119:105]. It is our immediate connection with Jesus [John 1:14]. It is our weapon of warfare [Ephesians 6:17]. We could go on and on.
Regardless of the translation of the Bible you possess, take time today to read it. The Lord will use it to feed you and strengthen you for your day. Meditate on what He feeds you throughout the day until your body absorbs it and it becomes a part of you.
