Happy New Year! There is something wonderful about a new year beginning. You start with a clean calendar, just waiting to be filled with adventure. The slate is clean. Some of us will hit the ground running and have the calendar filled with commitments and dates to remember before the sun goes down and others will slowly navigate themselves through each month, one month at a time, trying not to get overwhelmed by the things “to do” or the “shoulds” put upon them by others.
The wonderful thing about a life with Jesus is He makes all things new, especially us. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” ANYONE means anyone. There are no limits on who can experience newness of life with Jesus. His heart is for all to come into a saving relationship with Him [2 Peter 3:9]. But praise God, He doesn’t just stop there. Like those crazy commercials on television: “There’s more!”
Isaiah 43:19 says “Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” If there is a situation in your life that has been stagnant or unmoving, behold, He is going to do something new. If you’ve been battling an illness or beating the bushes for a job to provide for your family, behold, He is going to do something new. Don’t miss it! Don’t be the one who is unaware of the movement of God. Take time to get still before Him, get familiar with His voice and His character so when He moves, and He will move, you won’t miss it. He has great plans for you in 2012 [Jeremiah 29:11]. Make sure you don’t miss out on them!
