Do you have life insurance? My Daddy is a life insurance salesman, as is my older brother, so I’ve heard about the reasons one needs to have life insurance my entire life. I’ve seen what happens to families who have it in place when tragedy strikes and the peace of mind it can bring them. When everything else in their world is out of control, at least their finances are secure. I’ve also seen the devastation that can take place in families that don’t have insurance, especially if the bread winner is the one who passes away. Some people wait until they are older to purchase life insurance and it is much more costly than if they’d gotten in when they were younger and didn’t have any medical conditions. Others simply don’t believe in it.
While life insurance provides for your loved ones after you die, the only assurance that will help you is the assurance that comes from having an intimate relationship with Jesus [Hebrews 10:22]. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” He is our only help and our only hope. There is no other form of estate planning that will care for life after death. As awful as it is to watch a family going through loss without insurance to provide for them, it is more awful to think of someone passing from this life to the next without the blessed assurance of Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Revelations 3:3 tells us Jesus will come like a thief when He returns, meaning no one will know when He’s coming. Because we do not know the hour or day of His return, we need not only to have our hearts ready, but we also need to work towards fulfilling the Great Commission [Matthew 28:18-20]. We aren’t called to be assurance sellers, but assurance givers. We have the gift of eternal life and it is our responsibility and call to share it. Who in your life needs to hear of the blessed assurance of Jesus? Don’t put off telling them any longer. The time is now.
