Do you have a child in college?  If you do, you understand what I’m going through today.  You see today is the last day I have with my son before he heads off to college.  We’ve spent the last month cleaning things out of his bedroom, buying things for his dorm room, setting up his bank account, etc.  Basically, we’ve been preparing for him to live on his own.  The excitement has been building for him as the days have ticked away leading to D-day….. departure day.  I’ve tried not to think about itt and simply enjoy the time with my son.
Tomorrow Sam turns the page and starts a new and exciting chapter of life.  I’m so happy for him and excited for the adventure he’s starting.  He’s worked hard to get to this point and I couldn’t be more proud of him. My only request has been, “Let me hear from you, be it phone call, text or email, but communicate with me.”  I can only imagine how I’ll anticipate his calls, just to hear his voice and hear about his adventures, because I’m certain he’ll have stories to tell.
Do you think the Father longs to hear us call Him?  Unlike me, He is omniscient.  He already knows what’s going on in our lives, yet He still longs to hear our voice.  There’s just something about hearing someone’s story straight from them.
In Jeremiah 33:3 the Lord tells us to call to Him.  In Amos 5:4 and Isaiah 55:6 He tells us to seek Him. In Psalm 55:22 and 1 Peter 5:7 He tells us to cast our cares upon Him. He doesn’t need us to tell Him what’s going on in our lives.  He knows.  He simply loves the sound of our voice and longs for the relationship with us that comes from sharing our lives with Him.
Whether life is going great or you’re going through a hard time, the Lord desires to hear from you. Will you make time for Him today?

*I will be out of the office the remainder of this week.  I look forward to meeting you back here on Monday, August 20th.  Now, go call you mom or dad and make their day.
