Do you watch Say Yes to the Dress on TLC? I think we’ve seen every episode in our house. My daughter loves it. She loves everything about weddings, but her favorite thing is wedding dresses. She has probably pinned more wedding dresses on Pintrest than anything else.
As I’ve mentioned before, we will be celebrating New Year’s Eve with Resolution Hope as they launch their national awareness campaign against human sex trafficking of minors in America. We will also be releasing my debut novel, Rescuing Hope, that night. The attire for the event is holiday/festive. Everyone in the family has something to wear except for me, so we were on a mission yesterday to find the perfect dress. One of my friends had mentioned Bridals by Lori, telling me they had a whole floor of special occasion dresses. For Laura, that was better than going to Disneyworld. From the moment we arrived, she started soaking it all in taking mental pictures. The consultant who helped us was so sweet. When she found out Laura was a huge fan of the show, she insisted on taking us upstairs to the bridal floor to meet Monte.
He was a riot. He was exactly like he is on the show and then some. He gave Laura his undivided attention, just as if she had been one of the brides from the show. He talked to her a few moments, asking her what style of dress she liked and then said, “You’ve got to see this. Come with me.” and he whisked her away into one of the rooms and began pulling dresses out “hot of the runway that haven’t been seen yet” and showing them to her with great flare. She was over the moon excited. When he held one up to her, I we nearly died.
Song of Solomon 4:9 says,
You have stolen my heart, My sister, My bride; you have stolen My heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.
The Groom is captivated by the bride and even comments on her accessories. Now that’s my kind of man.
As I stood in Bridals by Lori, watching my little girl’s face light up with each wedding dress Monte pulled out, I couldn’t help but wonder, “How many of us truly have this type of excitement and anticipation about our up-coming wedding with the Lamb?” Are we intent on preparing for the day? Are we focused, willing to sacrifice other things so we can focus on our preparations?
Revelation 22:17 says,
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”
What are you doing to prepare for your big day?
