Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride

Do you have plans to do something different in 2013?  It’s a new year with endless opportunity. How will it be different from past years? That, my friend, it completely up to you.  Mark Twain said,

If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got.

If you want things to be different in your life, you’re going to have to change. Let’s face it, there are only two constants in life: Jesus and change. We have to be open to new things, new adventures and the unknown. Life with Jesus is the same way.  He rarely tells you where you’re going, He simply tells you to go.

In Genesis 12:1, we read,

The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.”

God didn’t tell Abram where he was being sent ahead of time so he could pack accordingly or let his family know where to find him.  He simply said, “Go!”  In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus tells the disciples to go, but He never specifies where.  In order to know where Jesus was sending them, they had to stay in constant communication with Him.

We face a similar situation today.  2 Chronicles 16:9 says,

For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.

He’s looking for those who are willing to go-  go to unknown places and do unknown things under the leadership and direction of a known God.  He’s looking for people like Isaiah in Isaiah 6:8 who will say,

Here am I. Send me!”

It’s not easy to do.  It takes someone who is willing to board Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.  The past 2 1/2 years have been that type of adventure for me as I’ve researched, written, published and released Rescuing Hope.  I couldn’t have imagined all the places the Lord would take me or the people I would meet.  I’m thankful He simply said, “Go!” and didn’t give me the full picture, because I’m not sure I would have gone if He had and I wouldn’t have wanted to miss it.  This has been a journey with more twists and turns than a roller coaster at Six Flags.  At times, it’s been scary and at others, it’s been exhilarating.

Don’t let the unknown frighten you.  You may not know where you’re going, what will happen along the way or what it will cost you; however, you can know Who is sending you and you can trust Him [Psalm 19:7, Psalm 111:7].  You can fully rely on Him and know He will never leave you nor forsake you [Deuteronomy 31:6, 8].

2013 is waiting to be experienced.  There’s a whole world out there in need of saving. You know the Savior and can introduce others to Him.  Jesus has asked you to join Him in this great adventure. How will you respond?

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” [Proverbs 3:5-6]
