Did you ever play Hide ‘n Seek as a child? It was one of my favorite games as a child. No one wanted to be “it” because that was the person who had to find everyone. If you were “it” you had to stand in a central location and count to an agreed upon number (usually 10 or 20), giving your friends time to hide. Some people hid in obvious places, so you could always find them with little effort. Others, like my younger brother, Steve, would hide so well, you’d never find him.
God likes to play Hide ‘n Seek. He’s kind, though. Unlike my brother, He wants to be found, so He tells us where to look for Him. He simply wants us to pursue Him. Isaiah 55:6 says,
Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.”
‘Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
God doesn’t make knowing Him hard for those who truly desire it. In fact, pursuing Him is easy enough for a child to do it, by design. He is a relational God and He made us to be relational [Genesis 1:26].
Want to know God more? Simple. Start looking for Him. Let Him know what you want, and just as He promises in Psalm 37:4, He will give you the desires of your heart.
