frustrated-monkeyDo you ever think God gets frustrated? Do you ever picture Him sitting on His throne just shaking His head wondering if we’ll ever get it? I’m certain I’m responsible for some of those head shakes.

What sort of things do you think could frustrate Him? What do you think could causes Him to look at Jesus and say, “Seriously?”

I believe one of the things that could frustrates Him is when we continually ask Him for things He’s already given us, yet we’ve failed to receive. For example, almost every time I’m around someone praying, at some point in the prayer they’ll ask for the Lord for blessing. Now, don’t get me wrong, He tells us to ask for what we want and need [Matthew 7:7, Luke 11:9, John 15:7, and James 1:6]. However, He also tells us how to obtain some of the things we ask for.

In Proverbs 14:21 says,

He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.”

You want to be blessed, be kind to the needy. It could be an elderly person in your neighborhood who can’t care for their yard, so you mow it. It could be an expectant mother you take dinner to one night to give her a break. But it could also be the survivor of sex trafficking who needs someone to love her when she’s unlovable. Or the starving child across the globe or across the street. God will highlight who you who you’re willing.

We want God to answer our prayers? Well, He clearly states in John 15:7 how to ensure He will.

If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”

Now before you go off thinking Jesus is like Santa Clause and you can sit on His lap with your wish list, recognize that you first must remain in Him and His word. That will change your heart to desire the things He desires, thus be in His will and follow His plan. In turn, that will change the things you ask for.

I believe God has more patience than we could even fathom. I don’t believe we frustrate Him, but I do believe we frustrate ourselves because we don’t know the Word of God or the Son of God as we should. I encourage you to go on a scavenger hunt through the Word of God and find the things He’s already given you. If we would take the time to do so, our arms would be laden down with all of the amazing gifts He’s already given us.

What gift did you find today?
