FCAWere you ever a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, also known as FCA? They did not have FCA in my high school growing up. My introduction to it was when my son was in sixth grade. He started asking to attend and I decided to find out all I could about the organization.

They meet in middle schools and high schools across the country, usually once a week before school. Their mission is simple,

To present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.

We were redistricted to a new middle school for my son’s seventh grade year. They didn’t have a sponsor for FCA, so I stepped up. For four years I lead was the sponsor of FCA. I was blessed to see some amazing things happen in those four years. Over two hundred students gave their lives to Christ in that time period. It was an exciting time and I thank God He allowed me to partner with Him in that way. I got to know many of the students well.

There was one student who haunted me after I left. It was obvious something was going on with her, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I tried forging a friendship with her, would give her rides to and from school if I saw her out walking, and even asked her from time to time if everything was okay. It was years later I learned the signs I saw were actually indicators of sex trafficking. She was being lured while in middle school, while coming to FCA each week, while she was within my reach, and I didn’t know it. I didn’t know it because I had no idea what an indicator was or what it indicated.

Today, I’m going back to FCA to speak to the students about the issue, the indicators and how to protect themselves. I’ll equip them as best I can because I don’t want another student to become a statistic. I have to raise my voice and as Proverbs 31:8 says,

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.”

I am only one person, but if we all raise our voice for hope and share what we know about the issue with young people, we can advance against this evil. Do you have a teen in your house? Live across the street from a teen? Know a teen? If so, speak up and educate. Send them to my Free Resources page of my website. Give them a copy of Rescuing Hope. Help sound the alarm.

The enemy has made his way into our camp and we need to get rid of him while we can, before its too late.
