seasonsWhat is your favorite season of the year? I like them all. Each season has it’s positives and negatives. I’m thrilled it is springtime and the temperatures are warmer, but when summer arrives, I’ll embrace it like a long lost friend.

Life is full of seasons too. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says,

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:”

I am in the midst of seasonal changes in life. I have one child about to graduate from high school and head off to college. These are fun times filled with more lasts and firsts than we can keep up with each day. It is a time of launching and releasing all at the same time.

I also have a child who has been home from college all of six days and is about to return for summer school. We’ll move him in this weekend and we won’t move him out again until this time next year. He’s truly gone from child to man.

I’ve learned, just like the seasonal changes in the climate, each season we face in life has some obstacles and unpleasantness to it, but it also brings great joy and blessings. We have the opportunity to embrace the negative or the positive when life begins to change. Whatever we focus on will determine our attitude and approach to what we’re facing.

Spring can be a season full of pollen, hay fever, uncertain temperatures, unending yard work, and having to adjust to the time change OR it can be a season full of new life, beautiful colors, warmer temperatures, and longer days to enjoy the outside.

You have no control over what comes your way in life, but you do control how you respond to it.

What season of life are you in right now? Are you changing diapers and wiping noses? Maybe you’re experiencing a career change? Whatever you’re facing, ask the Lord to give you eyes to see the positives and embrace them. It will change your entire experience!
