prayerDo you pray? Do you do so at mealtime and bedtime, whether you need it or not, or do you pray throughout your day?

Many people pray at the for mentioned times then, otherwise, only pray in dire situations. In many cases, prayer is viewed as an afterthought or last resort. Have you ever gone through a difficult season of life and heard someone say,

What else can I do for you besides just pray?”

The word just implies only or merely, as if it is less than other actions you may take.

Prayer is powerful.

It moves the heart of God. If it wasn’t important, you wouldn’t see Jesus doing it so often.

Jesus knew He was about to die. Within hours He was going to be arrested and carted off for a mock trial of sorts. So what did He choose to do in the time He had left? He prayed [Matthew 26:36-46].

Earlier today I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed and read something that summed it up pretty well,

Prayer is not a ‘spare wheel’ that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a ‘steering wheel’ that directs right path throughout life.”

It is a personal communication with God. Why is it important to talk with Him regularly? The reality is, God is the only one who knows where you’re going in life and what’s going to happen next. Wouldn’t it make sense to consult Him throughout your day to learn your next steps?

Prayer…. it does a body good!
