Why not come sit for a while?

Are you a MercyMe fan? I love their music. There is a song they’ve recorded called If I Could Just Sit With You A While. It was written and originally recorded by Dennis Jernigan, which is who I first heard sing it. He is a very talented songwriter and singer and he has a beautiful testimony of deliverance.

I had the privilege of sharing a platform with Dennis Jernigan at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes President’s Weekend several years ago. It had been years since I had heard him sing and it was just as powerful as I remembered. God speaks through him and his music.

I’d love to share the lyrics to this song with you. I feel strongly there is someone reading today who needs to hear them, let them permeate your heart.

Someone out there needs the reminder the Father desires intimacy with you, no matter what you’ve done, what’s been done to you, or what you’re going through.

I pray you will take a moment to allow yourself to be still and know [Psalm 46:10]. You may just need to sit beside the Lord and soak in His presence, or you may need to climb out of your chair and into His lap. He’s got a big lap and He’d love nothing more than to hold you and sing over you.
