Do you like movies? I am a movie junkie. I like many different kinds of movies: love stories, dramas, suspense, comedies, and even some documentaries. I’m not a huge fan of science fiction, and I will not watch horror movies.
What are your favorite kinds of movies?
I have a huge, God-size dream that one day Rescuing Hope will become a major motion picture. I call it a God-size dream because I know there is no way in the world I can make it happen. It’s going to take divine intervention to make that dream a reality.
Because of this desire, I’ve started paying attention to production companies and directors of movies. The director determines what happens in the film. He or she carries out the vision for the film and that’s important.
If you were going to pick a director for your life, who would it be?
Steven Spielberg? Ron Howard? Clint Eastwood? What about the up and coming Reese Witherspoon?
The reality is, you do choose the director of your life. It’s based on who you’re listening to and who you’re basing your life decisions on at the time.
Are you listening to Hollywood? Allowing magazines and shows like TMZ and Entertainment Tonight to determine where you focus your time and attention? How you dress? Where you spend your time? Where you spend your money?
Are you listening to your peers? Trying to keep up with the Joneses, so to speak? Making your family and personal decisions based on what everybody else is doing?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, it’s time to yell,
Cut!”
It’s time for a new director… One who puts your best interest at heart every time.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says,
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Jeremiah 29:11 says,
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The plans of the director of your life will tremendously impact the outcome of your life.
Why would you want to trust the direction of your life to Hollywood or the trend of the neighborhood?
Why not trust in One who has your best interest at heart? The One who knit you together in your mother’s womb, who has loved you from the beginning [Psalm 139:13].
Remember, the director will determine the outcome of a movie. The director you choose to direct your life will have the same impact. The choice is yours.
Who have you named as director?
