Lest We Forget

Do you like to sing old hymns? With all of the contemporary worship out there, hymns seem to be few and far between in church services today. Thankfully, there are some contemporary worship leaders who have woven them into their music sets. Others, like David Crowder and Chris Tomlin, have even recorded a few, such Amazing Grace and O Thou Fount of Every Blessing. There are some song lyrics people have to think about to grasp their meaning. Like in one of my favorite songs, O How He Loves, there are people who have inquired about the line,  if grace is an [...]

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever

Have you started your fall cleaning yet? Yesterday, I started cleaning out and clearing out. I wouldn't call it fall cleaning because many falls have come and gone and this project has been avoided. Now that both children are in college, I have time to dedicate to the tedious task of sorting, purging and organizing. I came across a stack of old pictures that were shoved in a draw. I'm an avid scrapbooker so if there's a pile of pictures somewhere its usually duplicate prints or school pictures... you know the ones that come in a gazillion copies of one [...]

The Voice!

Did you watch the season premiere of the Voice last night?  A friend of mine, James Shealy, auditioned.  He was one of the top 100 chosen for the blind auditions out of the 40,000 who tried out.  Unfortunately, none of the judges turned their chair around for him. Their loss, in my humble opinion. So, what does that mean? Does that mean he should go home, find a new dream, and move on? Absolutely not! It just means God has a different way of fulfilling the dream He planted in James' heart long ago. So many times when things don't happen the [...]

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words

Do you have any scrapbooks?  Maybe you scrapbook as a hobby.  I'm pretty certain I need to join a group of some sort, because scrapbooking for me is an addiction.  I've made 80+ scrapbooks in the past nineteen years.  Let's just say my children knew what to do whenever a camera was in their face.  No one every had to say, "Say cheese" to them.  They knew the drill like an actress on the red carpet. My son is home from college on spring break this week.  We were supposed to be traveling together to visit family; however, he got [...]

Seven Days of Hope: Day 1, What do you hope for?

My hope list for 2012. What do you hope for? Is there something that you long to have or see happen?  At the beginning of this year, during one of my quiet times, I vividly remember God asking me, Why do you think so little of Me?” Surely, I had heard God wrong.  Why on earth would I think so little of Him, the creator of heaven and earth [Genesis 14:19, 22]?  So, I asked Him, God, why do you say I think so little of You?  I think of you all the time.” He wasn’t questioning how [...]

Treasured Memories

What is your favorite Christmas decoration?  I put that question out to many of you on Facebook and had a great deal of fun hearing the various answers.  Many of the mothers said, “Anything made by my children.” I agree.  The various ornaments and decorations that are reflective of little hands and lots of love are very precious to me.  Others shared how they had a treasure that had been given to them when they were born or something that had been passed down through the generations.  One person shared how her favorite decoration was a gold, glittery star her [...]
