Thank YOU!

It's Thanksgiving week and I'm excited. Traffic on the interstates will soon be moving at a snail's pace. Do you have to experience it? One year, traffic was so bad my younger brother turned his car off while sitting on the interstate to conserve gas. It's crazy. Airports are equally as hectic. Not only are there thousands of people trying to fly home, but then the weather could change quickly create a logistical nightmare. Why do we do it? Why do we endure the hassle of traveling this week every year? What makes it so special? Whether with neighbors, friends or family, we [...]

This rocked my world and became a game changer.

Do you have a big family? Compared to my grandmother, who was one of ten children, I have a small family. I was one of three. I'm the middle child and the only daughter. I tell my brothers that our family is like an Oreo cookie, the best part is in the center. My husband and I have two children. They are our joy. I have loved every stage of their lives from babies to almost adulthood. I would say they are two of my best friends; however, the greater blessing is that they say the same thing about me. [...]

Still talking………..

Mama Do you have a friend or family member you talk with daily? Is there anyone you seem to have a running conversation with? My mom and I seem to have one conversation that has yet to end. We talk almost daily and we'll even refer back to something one of us said days prior as if we'd just mentioned it. We're so familiar with each other that we don't even have to convey complete sentences to communicate. She's not just my mom, she's one of the best friends I've ever had. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, Pray without ceasing." [...]

What or who is number one?

Do you have a Facebook page? I do and I am on it fairly regularly, posting articles on sex trafficking as well as praises for great things that happen in the fight. I tend to skim over other things, trying to avoid being sucked in for hours. Sometimes there are stories and posts that just draw you in and demand your attention. This morning I read a post by a friend who shared a conversation between her and a little boy God has brought into her life. It was precious. He wanted to know, ...what's more important, worshiping God or getting [...]

“Remember your Jerusalem!”

Do you fly often? I flew for the first time at twenty-four years old and was scared to death. I used to be able to tell you exactly how many flights I'd been on, but now I've lost count. I've also gotten much more comfortable on flights. There are a few flights that stand out vividly in my mind. Like the time a flew a sex trafficking survivor to St. Louis to take her to Mercy Ministries. She had never been on a plane before and let's just say that from the moment we entered the airport until we landed [...]

What kind of unseen tattoos do you have?

Do you ever search on Google just for fun? A friend of mine gave me a cool word page and I wanted to learn how she did it. I searched on Google for a while, but then I just called her for the website. It's called Wordle and it is so much fun to play around with creating all kinds of cool pages. The way it works is you type words you'd like to have included in the design. The more times you type the word into the data collector, the bigger the word gets. So, for example, the word [...]

How will you spend Christmas?

What will you be doing to celebrate Christmas? Will family travel to see you or will you be the one traveling? Do you make a huge meal for everyone to gather or do you keep it simple? The Norris family will spend this Christmas with friends and family, gathering to give one of the most priceless gifts we have to share... TIME. In the fast pace of life, with deadlines, meetings, and important phone calls, it's hard to find quality time with the Lord and those you love. I'll be taking the next two weeks off to spend dedicated time [...]

How far will you travel?

Do you travel during the holidays? Our travel consists of seeing family. My parents live in North Carolina, about six hours away. My older brother lives five hours from me and my baby brother lives across the country in Colorado. I don't want to even think about how long of a drive that would be. If I travel there, it's by plane. It's not always convenient nor does it always fit in the budget to travel, but we do because our family is important to us. We're willing to sacrifice and/or be inconvenienced to spend time with them. We love [...]

Have you ever flown on the red eye?

Have you ever flown the red eye before? The red eye is a flight that departs late at night and arrives early the next morning. About eight years ago, our family was flying home from vacation and had to take the red eye.  Since I have a great deal of trouble sleeping on a plane and it was quiet because most of the people were asleep, I took the opportunity to have a quiet time. I opened my Bible to the book of Acts and started reading chapter 1.  I felt the Lord tug at my heart when I came [...]

Play Ball!

Do you like baseball?  My husband, Mark, loves baseball.  He played baseball as a child all the way through high school.  His father was the commissioner of baseball where he grew up.  He taught our son, Sam, to play baseball and when Sam developed a love for the sport, Mark coached until Sam stopped playing in middle school.  He loves baseball.  More than anything, I think the real attraction for him to baseball is the strategy and teamwork required to play the game well. No one player is more important than any other.  While you need your pitcher to throw strikes, [...]
