RUN, RUN, AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

The Highlands of Scotland Have you ever been to the United Kingdom? It is made up of Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and England. I spent the last 10 days there and it was a glorious trip. I've dreamed of going to London ever since I was a little girl. Movies like My Fair Lady, Notting Hill, and Parent Trap all caused me to long to go there, not to mention watching Downton Abbey. I have a friends who live as missionaries in Scotland and I've heard about the beautiful rolling hills [...]

My Dad’s a Superhero!

Processed with Moldiv How did you spend Father's Day? Did you go to church with your Father? Have a backyard cookout with him? Or are you a father yourself? I spent Father's Day driving home from Charleston with my husband, where we attended a wedding. We made every attempt to scurry home quickly so Mark could share as much of the day as possible with our children. While traveling, I was able to talk with my Daddy, the first man I ever loved. It's days like those that make me wish I could be in two places at [...]

Is something leaking?

Where is the hot water heater in your house? Is it outside, under the house or is it inside your garage? Possibly in a closet somewhere? Ours is in a garage closet. Because of limited storage space, we have a refrigerator that sits in front of the closet. This morning my husband happened to notice water on the garage floor. Upon further investigation, he discovered the water wasn't coming from the refrigerator, as he first thought; rather the water was coming from the hot water heater. Needless to say, we have a plumber on the way to determine the damage [...]

New Day, New Evil!

Did you watch the Super Bowl last night? There were some amazing plays, but my favorite happened to be a Seahawks miracle catch [excuse the commentary]. I just wish the ending had been as miraculous for them. You were either thrilled to see the Patriots pull it out in the last few seconds or you were devastated to see the Seahawks pass a ball that even you knew should have been run in for a touchdown. Either way, it is over. Throughout the week leading up to the Super Bowl multiple front line organizations in the fight against sex [...]

Who got the votes last night?

Are you a fan of the Voice? Not only do we watch it, but we have friends who come watch it with us regularly. The commentary alone makes for a very entertaining evening, not to mention the great singing. This year the top five are all male vocalists. They're very different yet all are extremely talented. I'm honestly not sure who is going to make it to the finals: Craig Wayne Boyd, Matt McAndrew, Damien, Taylor John Williams, or Chris Jamison. Last night they had to sing two selections. The first song was chosen by their coach and the second they were [...]

FRONT LINE FRIDAYS with survivor, Jerome Elam!

IT'S FRONT LINE FRIDAY! Today I want to introduce you to a speaker, writer, abolitionist, and survivor of sex trafficking, Jerome Elam. When did you get involved in the fight against sex trafficking? It was after 20+ years of therapy, trying to cope with my own situation. My mother was 15 when she had me. My father was in the military and when he returned from overseas their short marriage fell apart. Alcohol flowed freely through the house which opened the door for domestic abuse. Their marriage didn't last long after. My mother divorced and married over and over. I [...]

Run to Home Base!

Did you ever play tag growing up? Someone is IT  and that person runs around trying to tag the others who hide, run, and do everything within their power to stay away from IT. If a player gets tired of running and hiding, she can run to home base, which is usually a tree or stump somewhere, and as long as she's at base IT cannot get to her. My brothers used to get mad if I spent too much time at base and tell me I had to keep running. We played tag for hours on end when I was a young girl. Isn't it [...]

What or who is number one?

Do you have a Facebook page? I do and I am on it fairly regularly, posting articles on sex trafficking as well as praises for great things that happen in the fight. I tend to skim over other things, trying to avoid being sucked in for hours. Sometimes there are stories and posts that just draw you in and demand your attention. This morning I read a post by a friend who shared a conversation between her and a little boy God has brought into her life. It was precious. He wanted to know, ...what's more important, worshiping God or getting [...]

Can I have this dance?

Did you know this Sunday is Father's Day? It will be the first time in a long time we're actually home for Father's Day. We're usually on family vacation this week. However, even though I'll be home, I have to mail my Daddy his Father's Day gift because he lives two states away. Daddy and I have a special relationship. I spend a lot of time looking for the perfect card for him. I am usually a "words" person when choosing a card, meaning I select a card that says what I want it to say more than by the [...]

Victim or Victor?

Do you have a fire escape plan? In fifth grade the fire lady used to come to our class and talk about fire safety. I'm sure she had a name other than fire lady, but that's who she was to me. She told us it was important to have a fire escape plan at home and to practice them. By having fire drills if the real event ever happened, we'd know exactly what to do because we would have prepared for it. Sports teams have drills and practice their skills so when they're in the stress of a game, they'll [...]
