Does He Know You?

Are you a coffee drinker? It's become quite the rage ever since the onset of the Starbucks' coffeehouse movement that began after 1983. Today people meet and hang out in coffeehouses like they used to do in bars. You can read more about what spurred Howard Schultz to create the coffeehouse tradition here. I am funny about the coffee mug I use. It has to fit comfortably in my hand, not being too heavy to hold yet thick enough to keep the coffee hot. My favorite coffee mugs are not only highly functional, but they're stinking cute too. They're made by Glory [...]

Be the Key!

My favorite chair in my office. What does your office look like? Mine is a collection of the places and people I've served in ministry. My favorite chair in my office was a gift to me from the students I served in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). It is draped with a quilt that was gifted to me from the Adullam Orphanage in Ghana, West Africa, where I serve when I go. In the back of the chair is a pillow from Daughters of Hope, a factory in India I toured that helps employ destitute women. To the side [...]

How are you painting your picture?

Do you paint? I have always been fascinated by the talent of many of my friends. They are gifted with a variety of mediums to paint. Just to make my point, I'd like to share some of their artwork. First, my friend, Marian, from Ghana, West Africa. She has more artistic talent in her little finger than I do in my entire body. She makes jewelry, paints and does pen and ink drawings. During my first visit to Ghana in 2003, she gifted me with this beautiful piece of art. Next, my friend Laura Kirkland started painting years ago. I [...]

What’s the attraction?

Do you use magnets on your refrigerator? There are times when my refrigerator looks more like a bulletin board. I have tons of family photos on there, wedding invitations, reminders and, my favorite, artwork from my niece and nephews. I have quite a collection of magnets that I use to hold everything in place. Some of them are weak and slide down the refrigerator over time because the attraction isn't powerful enough to hold. My favorite magnets are from Glory Haus. Once you put a Glory Haus magnet in place it isn't moving until you move it. They are fabulous. [...]

From Drab to Fab!

Glory Haus mug: Joy comes in the morning! Are you familiar with the company Glory Haus?  They are a faith based home decor company that manufactures a lot of hand painted decorative items, such as canvases, tiles, boards, and ornaments.  Their products are whimsical, fun and faith based.  I love their products and the people who create them.  My favorite of the Glory Haus products is the coffee mugs.  They're large and fit well in your hand.  They are always vibrant with rich colors and uplifting sayings. The first artist with Glory Haus was Laura Kirkland.  She's amazingly talented.  I'm [...]

Kept Humble

The Atlanta Gift Show Have you ever had one of those moments that could have been an I Love Lucy episode? If I’m honest, it happens to me more often than not.  I don’t go looking for things to happen, they just do. Yesterday, I was at the Atlanta Gift Show in downtown Atlanta.  It is the biggest gift show in the world for retailers.  I was there to pick up a few things for the various speaking engagements I have coming up, but I also took some time to wander through the booths to see the newest [...]
