Memory Lane to heartache- Can you relate?

Greensboro, North Carolina Do you ever venture down Memory Lane? Where does it take you? I spent this past week with my parents in my hometown. It was such fun, visiting some of my favorite places and connecting with friends I haven't seen in a while. I was able to grab lunch at Yum Yums with one of my college friends and walk through campus enjoying their amazing ice cream as we walked. My mother and I celebrated her birthday at one of my favorite lunch spots, Liberty Oak. While I was in town, I had the opportunity to connect [...]

IT’S FRONT LINE FRIDAY with TrueNorth Freedom Project

It's FRONT LINE FRIDAY! I have the privilege of introducing you to Anne Kerr, founder and president of TrueNorth Freedom Project. I met Anne in 2010 when we were both just getting our feet wet in the anti trafficking movement. She was a volunteer with Not For Sale. From there she went on to be director of Out of Darkness for a season and since then, she's been called to tackle the demand side of the issue. You're going to love getting to know Anne.  Let's get started: When did you first hear about the issue of sex trafficking? In [...]

How 2 Teens Helped Rescue a Trafficking Victim

How can I help? What can I do?" I hear those questions more times than I can count in the fight against human trafficking. In many cases, it is followed by the statement, I'm just a ...." You fill in the blank. I'm just a mom. I'm just a school teacher. I'm just a dentist. I'm just a bookkeeper. I have yet to meet someone who learned about human trafficking only to throw their hands up , walk away and say they didn't care. Typically, the first time someone learns about it taking place in this country they're shocked. It's a lot to wrap [...]

With a little help from my friends…….

How are you? Are you in a good place right now? Family doing well? Job going well? What about your health? We all go through good times and some not so good times in life. When life is going well, we're strong. We go through our days without skipping a beat. As my friend, Lynn, says, we're steady. However, we all encounter times when we just need some help. Our whole world doesn't need to be falling apart to need a little assistance. In fact, things can be going well, but we just encounter something we can't accomplish or overcome [...]

What is one thing we all desire in life?

Do you know the Golden Rule? I would venture to guess most people are familiar with it, even those who aren't believers in Christ. It can be found in Luke 6:31, Do to others as you would have them do to you." Matthew 7:12 also records it and goes so far as to say the Golden Rule sums up the Law and the Prophets. This morning as I was reading an article about North Carolina holding a symposium on human trafficking for law enforcement, I couldn't help but think of the Golden Rule. What is one thing we all desire [...]

Does God need your help?

How are you doing?  Seriously, I want to know? Are you in a good place right now or are you waiting on the Lord to step in to your circumstances? Me? I'm glad you asked. I've been waiting on the Lord to do something He promised me He would do. If I'm honest with you, it's been a bit frustrating at times.  I know I heard Him clearly, but I have yet to see Him move in that direction.  The enemy would just love it if I'd allow doubt to settle in or give in to the questions: Did God [...]

Help! Shots fired! Run!

Do you exercise? Run? I think I've established that I am not a runner.  In fact, my mantra has always been "I'll only run if someone's shooting at me." That was until my son had this great idea we could run this summer and train to run a 5K together when he came back from studying in Belgium.  We both knew he could have walked out the front door and run a 5K.  I was the one who would need the whole summer to train to run it. So, I did.  It's amazing what you'll do for your children. I've [...]
