Job Opening!

How did you spend your day yesterday? I had the opportunity to camp out at one of my favorite coffee shops in the city and work for a while. The scenery was beautiful, there was a gentle hum of conversations and computer clicks in the background, and the coffee was tasty, even if it looked a little strange in the presentation. I think the barista had a sense of humor and wanted to know if I'd say anything. The artwork reminded me a bit of Alf. After getting a couple of hours of work under my belt, I had the [...]

Do you hear it?

Do you have children? Did you like to sing to them? I used to rock my children every night after reading them a story. I would sing songs to them. Some songs were cute little children's songs I used in my classroom when I taught school. Other times I'd sing hymns or worship songs. Somewhere along the way, I made up a song I sang to them regularly at bedtime. I called it Close Your Eyes. I don't know if it was a sweet melody or more of a desperate cry of a tired mother, but it became our go to song whenever I put [...]

What or who is number one?

Do you have a Facebook page? I do and I am on it fairly regularly, posting articles on sex trafficking as well as praises for great things that happen in the fight. I tend to skim over other things, trying to avoid being sucked in for hours. Sometimes there are stories and posts that just draw you in and demand your attention. This morning I read a post by a friend who shared a conversation between her and a little boy God has brought into her life. It was precious. He wanted to know, ...what's more important, worshiping God or getting [...]

Is it time to clean house?

Do you like having company come visit you? I have often said I need house guests at least once a month to ensure I give the house a thorough cleaning. When I have company coming, I hit the ground running. I want them to find things in good condition, welcoming. How many of us treat God like a guest who visits every now and then? We try and clean things up on Sunday mornings before we go to church for our weekly visit; however, we seem to forget that church isn't where He dwells. When we accept Christ as our Lord [...]

How to Turn Your Problems into Opportunities

How do you handle disappointment or problems when they come knocking at your door?  Does it change the way you act, feel, or think?  When problems are small, most people just roll with it, but the big ones can stop us in our tracks. My buddy, Joe, seemed to have one big problem after another.  In fact, some might consider Joe a magnet for trouble.  The sad thing is, he never really caused his problems.  They just seemedprobl to find him and stick around for a while. Have you ever felt that way?  Well, maybe you can learn a thing [...]

Give me patience, but hurry up!

How do you define patience? Wikipedia defines patience as, the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Very few people seem to exhibit patience anymore. We have evolved into an instant gratification world.  Instead of taking the time to prepare delicious  meals for our families, we rely on microwaves and drive-thru windows with no control over what is in the food we're feeding them. Instead of investing time and energy [...]
