Repost: You Won’t Believe This and It Really Happened

This is my most popular post to date (Shared March 2014). I decided to share it again today. What does a pimp look like? Where does he operate? How does he gain possession of a new girl? These are questions we all need to think about. The answers might surprise you. A lot of people still have the 1970s picture of a pimp in their mind. You know the one: 1. big hat 2. leisure suit 3. jacked up car 4. dice hanging from the rear view mirror The only place you'll find a pimp like that now is in [...]

FRONT LINE FRIDAY with Dr. Sherry Rudd

It's FRONT LINE FRIDAY! I am so excited to introduce you to a dear friend of mine, Dr. Sherry Rudd. Dr. Rudd is a dentist and the owner of Gentle Care Family Dentistry. I know you may be wondering why I'm featuring a dentist on Front Line Friday. Well, I'm glad you asked. She may be a dentist by day, but she is truly an angel with her wings hidden and she is on the front line of the fight against trafficking. You're going to love her! When did you first learn about the issue of sex trafficking in America? [...]

Front Line Friday with Diane Drake

It's Front Line Friday and it is my privilege to introduce you to Diane Drake. Diane is a wife, mother and an active member of Lost Mountain Baptist Church in Powder Springs, Georgia. She is a lot like many of you. I've chosen to feature her on Front Line Fridays because I want readers to understand that you don't have to be the founder of an organization to have an impact on the fight against sex trafficking, although she's about to launch one. There is a place in this fight for all of us. I hope Diane's message will resonate [...]

How to change your story from horror to hope!

What did you do last night? I had the privilege of doing one of my favorite things. I got to be a recruiter for God's army and call up new recruits to join the fight against sex trafficking in America. Lost Mountain Baptist Church in Powder Springs, Georgia hosted a Night of Hope. We had a large turn out of people, young and old, eager to learn what they could do about the atrocity of sex trafficking, not in Cambodia or Thailand, but right in their own backyards. I loved watching their faces transition from shock and horror to commitment. [...]

You Won’t Believe This and It Really Happened

You know the one: 1. big hat 2. leisure suit 3. jacked up car 4. dice hanging from the rear view mirror The only place you'll find a pimp like that now is in the movies. Today's pimp looks like the guy next door, and in fact, he might be. Where do [...]

God Sent Snow Angels

Were you caught in the snow last night? I was at Solomon House, the safe house where Out of Darkness takes women who are rescued off the street until they can place them in recovery centers. It normally takes me about twenty-five minutes to drive home from there, but last night, it took me 8 1/2 hours. The roads were complete gridlock. Not only did I have to navigate around and with tons of cars, but I had to think about the actual roads, where were there more hills, which road would be easiest to maneuver down. I could have [...]

Been sharpened?

Have you ever been to Kentucky? My friend, Kim, and I traveled to Kentucky yesterday to visit a young woman in a recovery program. The drive was beautiful, all of the rolling hills, the silos, barns, and animals grazing. It was very picturesque. When we arrived, we were greeted with hugs, kisses and tears. I now understand what Paul meant by greeting one another with a holy kiss [Romans 16:16]. My sweet friend nearly snapped me in two as she clung to me with tears our joy streaming down her face. She was so eager to see familiar faces and [...]

How to Give the Best Gifts

Have you noticed the mornings are cooler? According to the calendar, it will officially be fall this weekend; however, for many the day Big Yellow started rolling, taking children back to school, summer came to an end. One of the many things people do to usher fall in is start cleaning out their closets. A young friend of mine has taken this opportunity to host a clothing drive for Solomon House, a safe house for victims of sex trafficking run by Out of Darkness. She announced the clothing drive at her church and among her peers. Yesterday, she showed up [...]
