Do Your Part

Anything exciting happening in your world today? Any fun weekend plans? This afternoon I will pick my son up from college. He'll be home for a few weeks before taking off for a summer internship. During that time he'll try and catch up on sleep, connect with friends, and probably eat everything that isn't nailed down. He has grown into a very independent young man, very self sufficient. However he can become helpless pretty quickly asking me to do for him what he is fully capable of doing for himself... if I allow it. There are some things I will do [...]

What or who is number one?

Do you have a Facebook page? I do and I am on it fairly regularly, posting articles on sex trafficking as well as praises for great things that happen in the fight. I tend to skim over other things, trying to avoid being sucked in for hours. Sometimes there are stories and posts that just draw you in and demand your attention. This morning I read a post by a friend who shared a conversation between her and a little boy God has brought into her life. It was precious. He wanted to know, ...what's more important, worshiping God or getting [...]

Which way will you go?

Do you like a game plan? Do you like to know where things are going and what's coming next? It has been said, If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Right now there's a lot of planning going on in my house. My daughter is a senior, so she's in the midst of college applications, scholarship applications, etc. My son, who is a sophomore at Georgia Tech, is also filling out applications; however, his happen to be for summer internships. If you've ever applied to either, you know it can be a very stressful process. They're searching for [...]

How do you see things?

Move in day, freshman year Do you have school age children? It is back to school time for most of them, whether they're in elementary school or college.  Yesterday, a friend of mine took her first born son to college for his freshman year.  It was a bittersweet time for her as she watched this child morph into a man before her very eyes. Similar to my experience, in the midst of setting up his room he got a message looked at her and said he had somewhere he had to be.  It was time for her to [...]

Take cover! It’s rough out there.

The Wet Rat Look (I'm starting a new trend.) Are you a runner? I think I've made it perfectly clear that I am NOT a runner; however, this summer I've been running to train for a 5K with my son who has been studying abroad all summer.  It has been a way to stay connected to him. I have forced myself to wake up early and run at least three days a week in preparation, rain or shine.  It's been easy to say rain or shine because it hasn't rained a single morning I was supposed to run... until [...]

How Duck Dynasty Can Help Your Relationships

Do you ever watch Duck Dynasty? After seeing many posts on Facebook a few months ago, I decided to watch it and see what everyone was talking about.  I’ve been watching it ever since then.  The Robertson brothers remind me of some of my older brother’s high school friends. Si Robertson can make me laugh at the drop of a hat. The season finale was this week and the whole redneck family took a trip to Hawaii. You can imagine how hilarious it was to witness this clan of bearded back woods individuals in a five star resort in paradise. [...]
