We had horrible storms here night before last. Our tornado sirens went off 4 or 5 times in about 3 hours time. Needless to say, there was little sleep for anyone. However, yesterday morning as I drove my children to school, I couldn’t help but notice the beauty of spring bursting forth. Everything seemed to be lush and green and refreshed. Yes, storms came the night before, but one of the results of the storm was a refreshing drink of water for all of the vegetation. The storm looked like something that might destroy all of the beautiful plants and trees, however, it nourished them and made them stronger.
Life is similar. Storms come and go. Sometimes they are so small they almost go unnoticed. Then other times, they are more forceful and have our undivided attention. Either way, when a storm comes we will be safe if we take cover. The Lord is our covering. He goes with us and will never leave us nor forsake us [Deuteronomy 31:6]. He watches over our comings and our goings [Psalm 121:8]. God also provides us with weapons to help protect us when the storms of life come [Ephesians 6:10-18]. Ultimately, it is in the midst of the storm we see Jesus coming to our aid [Matthew 14:25]. We aren’t distracted by the unnecessary trappings of this world. He has our undivided attention. And when we give Him our undivided attention, we are able to drink deep from the living water [John 4:10-14].
You or someone you love may be experiencing a storm in life today. Remember to take cover, gather your weapons and drink deep, for joy will come in the morning [Psalm 30:5].
My family and I are walking this one out right now with my mom’s health.
Thanks for the reminder.
