Did you watch the royal wedding? I had to get up early to get my children up for FCA this morning, so we turned it on and I was surprised how our entire family was drawn into the festivities. We all commented on how spiritual the formal ceremony seemed to be. I think we all expected the formality, but didn’t know the focus of Christ would be so prevalent.
The streets of England were lined with people celebrating the union of Kate and William. When they came out of Westminster Abbey, the people erupted in cheers. I couldn’t help but think of the celebration that will take place in heaven and on earth as Christ is joined with His bride.
Revelation 19:7 says “Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.”
Reporters shared throughout the morning all Kate did to make herself ready for her wedding. They talked about her dress and the way she was transported to the Abbey. All of these preparations were for her groom. Kate wanted everything to be perfect when she was presented to William in marriage.
What are you doing to prepare yourself to be presented to Christ upon His return? How are you dressing? How are you traveling? Are you clothing yourself in garments of praise?
Isaiah 61:10 says “I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns His head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Unlike Kate, we never know when our Bridegroom will return for us [Matthew 25:13]. We must always be ready.
One thing we can know for certain, the celebration that will follow the union of the Bride and Christ will outshine anything England or any other country has ever seen.
Revelation 22:17: “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”
