Do you have friends who make you laugh? I don’t mean a little giggle here or there… I mean doubled over, pee in your pants laughter. Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 says,
There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. A time to cry and a time to laugh.”
I thank God for laughter and I really thank God for the friends who cause it frequently.
Humor is to life what shock absorbers are to bicycles or cars.
It helps make the ride a little smoother when you go over bumps. I’ve heard it said that laughter actually heals the body because it releases pent up stress. David Nathan said,
Laughter is part of the human survival kit.”
Our family is entering a new season of life. Our baby is going off to college and my husband and I will be empty nesters. Not real sure how that happened so quickly. As the saying goes,
The days go slow, but the years go quickly.”
We’re currently at orientation and it is bittersweet. It is exciting to see where she’ll spend the next four years but it is also hard to realize she’ll be here instead of home with us.
The orientation leaders have used the art of laughter to help the incoming freshmen embrace their new home and shake some of the nerves away. I know it won’t be easy, but it will be good, for all of us.
How has God used laughter to help you through a difficult season?
