Lights of Life 1Can you believe it’s December 1st? Just 24 days until Christmas. I think it seems to come faster each year.

I want to be intentional this year and take time every day leading up to Christmas to focus on one thing that points to Jesus. Today, my focus is on the lights of Christmas.

The custom of using lights as part of the Christmas decorations dates back to pre-electricity days. People would use candles on their trees.

One of our family’s favorite things to do is to drive to the Lights of Life at Life University in Lights of Life 2Marietta, Georgia and ride through the display with Christmas music playing. We may or may not stop by the Krispy Kreme to grab some hot chocolate and donuts for the ride.

Life’s beautiful display of color and light sprawls all across the campus. They have a stopping point midway where you can participate in some interactive displays, take a train ride, roast a marshmallow to make smores and even sit on Santa’s lap. It’s great family fun.

I love that the display is called the Lights of Life, because they are celebrating the birth of the Light of the World [John 9:5]. He is also the only way to true life. In fact, in John 14:6, Jesus said,

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

This Christmas as you enjoy the lights on your tree or the beautiful decorations outside in people’s yards and throughout the marketplace, pause to reflect on the One who is the Light of the World. He is the reason we celebrate. He is the reason for the season. Make Him your focal point this Christmas.
